Clinical Study of 107 Hospitalized Patients with Peritonsillar Abscess

Abstract We conducted a retrospective analysis of the data 107 cases peritonsillar abscess treated at our hospital between January 2014 and December 2018. Data on age, sex, affected site, duration hospitalization, method drainage, presence/absence laryngeal edema, antibacterial drugs used, isolated bacteria were analyzed. Of patients, 71 males 36 females; median age was 44 years (range: 18–88 years).The left side in 55 right 50 both sides two patients. The localized superior pole inferior Thirty-five patients had which three underwent tracheotomy. Recurrence observed 15 cases, with recurrence developing within 3 months 7 over period 4 cases. As for sensitivity causative to drugs, 17% showed resistance clindamycin, while none ampicillin/sulbactam (ABPC/SBT). concluded that ABPC/SBT might be suitable initial treatment abscess, we need bear mind possibility long-term recurrence.
